Franco Colapinto closed the year with two more victories, while Belén García had to wait until the last race to celebrate the title of the women’s category.
The Circuit de Barcelona-Cataluña ended the season of F4 Spanish Championship with emotions until the last moment.
The Argentinean FA Racing – Drivex School driver consolidated his position at the top of the table after winning both races on Sunday. In the first race, with the Pole Position assured, he was able to keep the pace on track to see the chequered flag over the finish line.
Already in the second, he started from 3rd position and with a good start he got 2nd. Although Poleman, Glenn Van Berlo (MP Motorsport), started well, could not contain the Colapinto attack and ended up giving up the first place.
Who did not have a good weekend was Kilian Meyer (Formula Champions – Prague). In the second race he finished 4th (he started 8th) and in the last race he finished last, after he left in Training Timekeeper 2 for a crash. Despite recovering positions and finishing 11th, he was not able to hold on to second place in the championship and finished 3rd. Van Berlo finished 2nd.
Thus, Franco Colapinto was three out of three in Barcelona and won, in addition to the championship title, the Rookie by Panta trophy. On the other hand, his team Drivex School finished at the top of the classification of Teams by Autotecnica Motori.
Belén García, champion of the Women’s Trophy
Meanwhile, the most exciting moments were in the closed duel between Belén García (Global Racing Service) and Nerea Martí (Formula of Champions – Prague), who until the last race defined the title of the female category.
Despite Martí’s great weekend, winning all three competitions, it was García who was crowned champion by one point. Irina, who did not participate in the event, finished third in the general classification.
In this way, the F4 Spanish Championship ended in 2019 with a winner in each category and with the opening of what will be next year.
Gas and luck on the asphalt!
