June 5, 2025 by

The F4 Spanish Championship continues its high-paced season with the third round of the year, set to take place at the stunning Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão. Once again, a full grid of promising young drivers will take on one of the most thrilling and challenging circuits on the calendar.

Known for its dramatic elevation changes, blind apexes, and flowing corners, the 4.6-kilometer Portimão track features 15 turns that demand precision, bravery, and rhythm. The circuit’s undulating nature and wide layout offer multiple overtaking opportunities, particularly into Turn 1 after the long main straight and at the downhill Turn 5 hairpin. Recently, Portimão has become a favorite among drivers and fans alike, hosting a range of international events and solidifying its reputation as one of Europe’s modern racing gems.

After the Navarra round, René Lammers has taken the lead in the championship standings with 104 points, followed closely by Thomas Strauven with 97 and Jan Przyrowski with 90. The three have emerged as the main title contenders in what promises to be an intense battle for the 2025 crown.

The weekend schedule at Portimão kicks off on Friday with two 40-minute testing sessions, giving teams and drivers valuable time to adapt to the circuit’s unique layout. Saturday begins with free practice at 10:45, followed by the first qualifying session at 12:35. Race 1 will take place later that day at 15:20.

Sunday’s action starts early with the second qualifying session at 9:00, leading into two races that will round off the weekend: Race 2 at 12:50 and the closing Race 3 at 14:30.

With a full grid and one of the most exciting circuits on the calendar, the Portuguese round of the F4 Spanish Championship is set to deliver a weekend of top-level junior single-seater action.
