The F4 Spanish Championship heads to the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto this weekend for the fifth round of the 2026 season, with the fight for the title entering its decisive phase and several drivers still firmly in contention.
The championship arrives in Andalusia following a dramatic weekend at Jarama, where Kasper Schormans emerged as the new championship leader after producing his strongest round of the season. The Mp Motorsport driver claimed victory in Race 1 before adding two second-place finishes, overturning the standings and leaving Madrid with 140 points.
Behind him, however, the championship remains extremely close. Borys Lyzen sits second with 122 points, only four ahead of Andrej Petrovic on 118. Former championship leader Noah Monteiro follows with 114, while Rocco Coronel is fifth on 111. Nacho Tuñón, with 97 points, remains within striking distance as the season enters its final three rounds.
Jarama also underlined just how quickly the picture can change. Schormans arrived in Madrid sixth in the standings, 18 points behind Monteiro, but left the weekend leading by exactly the same margin over Lyzen. With another significant haul of points available in Jerez, the fifth round could once again reshape the championship before the final events at Navarra and Barcelona.
The battle is equally important in the Teams’ Championship. MP Motorsport leads with 251 points, holding a 40-point advantage over T-Code on 211. Griffin Core occupies third with 148 points, ahead of KCL Motorsport on 138 and Drivex on 135.
The Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto will present a very different challenge to Jarama. Its 4.4-kilometre layout combines technical sections with several heavy braking zones, with Turn 1 and Dry Sack among the main overtaking opportunities. Finding the right balance between qualifying performance and race pace will be crucial across the three races of the weekend.
With the championship’s top five separated by just 29 points, consistency will be as important as outright speed. Schormans arrives with the advantage, but Jarama demonstrated how quickly the championship picture can change.
