Brazilian rising star Pedro Clerot will make a switch to the Spanish Formula 4 Championship in 2023, having sewn up a deal with series frontrunners MP Motorsport.
Pedro Clerot: a talent in the making
The 15-year-old has already competed in selected Italian F4 rounds in 2022, but will now embark on his first full season in Europe.
Next to his first taste of European competition, Clerot was busy in his home country sealing the Brazilian F4 title with no less than seven wins, 11 podium finishes, three pole positions and seven fastest laps. Kicking off his cooperation with MP Motorsport this winter, the Brazilian youngster will prepare himself for his first full-season European campaign by taking part in several rounds of the United Arab Emirates F4 series
“It’s great news that I’m able to join MP Motorsport for my first full year in Europe”, said Clerot. “They are a household name in Europe’s Formula 1 feeder series, and it’s a great place to start on my European adventure. Especially in Spain, their winning record speaks for itself, and I hope to contribute to that in 2023. Our selected UAE F4 rounds together will definitely help me be well-prepared for the Spanish season. I can’t wait for it all to get going!”
MP Motorsport wants the crown back
“We are extremely happy that Pedro will be part of our Spanish F4 line-up in 2023”, said MP’s team principal Sander Dorsman.
“As the newly crowned Brazilian F4 champion he comes over from the South American continent with quite a reputation, and he acquitted himself well in the two Italian F4 rounds at Imola and Misano this year”.
"We are fully aiming to build on that, first in UAE F4 and then for Pedro’s first full European season in Spain".
Advancing from his local kart scene, Clerot proved highly competitive in São Paulo’s Formula Delta series, taking second in the 2021 championship.
He did it with three wins, nine podiums, two pole positions and four fastest laps, before he progressed to his title-clinching campaign in Brazilian F4 in 2022.
The 2022 F4 Spanish Championship season will start next May 5th at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
