Noah Monteiro delivered his strongest weekend of the F4 Spanish Championship season at Circuito de Jerez–Ángel Nieto, taking two victories and a third-place finish to move within just seven points of championship leader Kasper Schormans. Rocco Coronel completed the weekend with victory in Race 3, as the title fight intensified with two rounds remaining.
The fifth round of the season began with an incredibly close first qualifying session. Monteiro produced a 1:43.303 to secure pole position, with just 0.081 seconds separating the top four. Campos Racing teammate Vivek Kanthan was only 0.014 seconds behind in second, followed by Borys Lyzen and Elliot Kaczynski. Championship leader Schormans qualified fifth. Crucially, Monteiro also set the second-fastest lap of the session, securing pole position for Race 2 as well.
Monteiro converted the first of those poles into his maiden victory of the regular F4 Spanish Championship season. The Portuguese driver made a clean start and controlled Race 1 despite a red flag following an accident for Rahim Alibhai on the main straight.
Kanthan completed a Campos Racing one-two in second, while Schormans moved through to third after overtaking Lyzen on lap eight. The Polish driver finished fourth ahead of Daniel Kelleher, Andrej Petrovic and Ty Fisher. The victory brought Monteiro firmly back into the championship battle, leaving him 15 points behind Schormans after the opening race.
Saturday became even better for Monteiro in Race 2. Starting from pole once again, the Campos Racing driver produced another composed performance to make it two victories from two races. Lyzen finished second after keeping the pressure on Monteiro following a Safety Car restart, while Kaczynski completed the podium for Drivex. Kanthan took fourth ahead of Schormans, meaning Monteiro reduced the championship deficit to only four points, with Schormans on 164 and Monteiro on 160 heading into Sunday.
Coronel returns to winning ways
Sunday began with Rocco Coronel claiming pole position in Qualifying 2. The Mp Motorsport driver set a 1:43.259 to beat teammate Lyzen by just 0.033 seconds, while Schormans completed an Mp Motorsport top three. Monteiro qualified fourth, only three thousandths behind the championship leader, with Kaczynski fifth.
Coronel converted pole into victory in Race 3 to return to the top step of the podium for the first time since his double success at the opening round in Valencia. The Dutchman led an MP Motorsport one-two, with Schormans finishing just 0.433 seconds behind.
Monteiro completed an outstanding weekend with third place, securing his third podium from three races in Jerez. Lyzen finished fourth ahead of Kelleher, Kaczynski and Petrovic.
After a weekend in which the championship battle changed considerably, Kasper Schormans remains the F4 Spanish Championship leader with 182 points, but Noah Monteiro has closed the gap to just seven points on 175. Borys Lyzen is also firmly in contention in third with 162 points, followed by Rocco Coronel on 144 and Andrej Petrovic on 138.
In the Teams’ Championship, MP Motorsport continues to lead the standings with 324 points, holding an 87-point advantage over Griffin Core on 237. T-Code follows closely in third with 232 points, while KCL Motorsport sits fourth on 178 and Drivex fifth with 155.
With only Navarra and Barcelona remaining, the 2026 F4 Spanish Championship heads into its decisive final two rounds with just 20 points separating the top three drivers.
