Kasper Schormans completes stunning Navarra hat-trick as MP Motorsport clinches F4 Spanish Championship Teams’ title

October 11, 2026 by

The F4 Spanish Championship delivered another decisive weekend at Circuito de Navarra, where Kasper Schormans produced an extraordinary performance to take a major step towards the 2026 Drivers’ Championship. The Mp Motorsport driver claimed all three race victories, both pole positions ad two Fastest Lap, missing out on a perfect points haul by just a single fastest lap. His remarkable achievement also contributed to a memorable weekend for MP Motorsport, which secured the Teams’ Championship with one round still remaining.

Arriving in Navarra with a narrow seven-point advantage over his closest rival, Schormans leaves the penultimate event of the season with a commanding 53-point lead over Noah Monteiro (Campos Racing), placing himself in an excellent position to secure the crown at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in November.

The weekend began with a highly competitive opening qualifying session, interrupted by a red flag following an incident involving Nacho Tuñón (Tecnicar). With limited time remaining, Schormans delivered a superb final attempt of 1:46.315 to secure his maiden pole position in the championship.

Elliot Kaczynski (Drivex) qualified second, just 0.107 seconds behind, while Rocco Coronel (MP Motorsport) completed the top three ahead of teammate Borys Łyżeń. Meanwhile, championship contender Noah Monteiro could only manage tenth position, leaving him with considerable ground to recover in the opening race.

Schormans converted his pole position into victory in Race 1, although his path to the chequered flag was not entirely straightforward. Following an opening period behind the Safety Car, Kaczynski challenged the Dutchman around the outside of Turn 1 at the restart, but Schormans defended his position successfully.

From that moment, the championship leader controlled proceedings and gradually established a comfortable advantage, eventually crossing the finish line almost five seconds clear of his nearest rival on the road.

Post-race penalties reshuffled the classification, promoting Rocco Coronel to second place and Nathan Tye (Drivex) to third. Kaczynski was classified fourth after receiving a five-second track-limits penalty, while Daniel Kelleher (Campos Racing) completed the top five.

Monteiro recovered from tenth on the grid to finish sixth, limiting some of the damage in the championship standings, while Łyżeń suffered a costly retirement following contact with Vivek Kanthan.

The second race of the weekend brought a very different challenge, with repeated neutralisations significantly reducing the amount of green-flag running. After another start behind the Safety Car, an incident involving Nathan Tye and Ty Fisher brought out a red flag, followed by further laps under neutralisation. When racing finally resumed with only a few minutes remaining, Schormans maintained his composure to secure his second victory of the day.

Coronel completed another Mp Motorsport one-two finish, while Vivek Kanthan (Campos Racing) claimed third place ahead of teammate Daniel Kelleher. Łyżeń recovered from his earlier disappointment to finish fifth, with Kaczynski sixth.

Monteiro finished eighth, allowing Schormans to extend his championship advantage to 42 points by the end of Saturday.

With two victories, a pole position and both fastest laps, the Dutch rookie had collected the maximum 47 points available from the opening day. Schormans carried his outstanding form into Sunday morning’s second qualifying session, securing another pole position with a lap of 1:46.276.

Despite sitting only 17th with three minutes remaining, the Mp Motorsport driver produced two exceptional late laps to climb to the top of the timesheets.

Monteiro responded with his strongest qualifying performance of the weekend, finishing just 0.040 seconds behind his title rival. Coronel secured third position, while Jensen Burnett and Łyżeń completed an impressive showing for Mp Motorsport by qualifying fourth and fifth respectively.

The stage was set for a fascinating final race, with Schormans and Monteiro sharing the front row and the championship battle approaching a potentially decisive moment.

Race 3 provided the closest contest of the weekend between the two title protagonists. Schormans maintained the lead from the start, but Monteiro remained firmly within striking distance throughout the 18-lap encounter. The Campos Racing driver applied relentless pressure, forcing the championship leader to maintain an exceptionally high level of concentration.

Despite a brief lock-up at Turn 3 during the closing stages, Schormans delivered another composed performance to cross the finish line just 0.568 seconds ahead of Monteiro, completing a remarkable clean sweep of victories at Navarra.

Behind the leading pair, Daniel Kelleher secured his maiden single-seater podium with an excellent third-place finish, continuing his impressive run of consistency. Andrej Petrović (Tecnicar) claimed fourth, ahead of Jensen Burnett, while Niklas Schaufler (TC Racing) delivered another strong performance to finish sixth after defending against Vivek Kanthan.

Coronel recovered from an early spin to take eighth, with Luna Fluxá and Ty Fisher completing the points-scoring positions.

Beyond Schormans’ individual success, Navarra also marked another historic milestone for MP Motorsport, which mathematically secured its eighth F4 Spanish Championship Teams’ title with one round still remaining.

The Dutch organisation further strengthened its remarkable record in the series, having now claimed seven Teams’ Championships under the Mp Motorsport name and one as KCL by MP Motorsport, reaffirming its status as the most successful team in the championship’s history.

The 2026 F4 Spanish Championship will conclude at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 13–15 November, where the final three races of the season will determine the remaining titles and bring another highly competitive campaign to a close.
