Round 5 Preview – F4 Spanish Championship resumes at Jerez with Season reaching crucial stage

September 18, 2025 by

After a long summer break since June, the F4 Spanish Championship roars back into action this weekend at the Circuito de Jerez–Ángel Nieto for round five of the 2025 season. A full grid of young talents will return to the track as the battle for the crown enters one of its most decisive phases. The grid will also welcome a new addition, as Swiss-based outfit G4 Racing joins the championship from Jerez onwards until the end of the season, further strengthening the competition.

The Jerez circuit, a 4.4-kilometer track with 13 corners, is one of Spain’s most iconic racing venues. Its layout blends high-speed sweeping corners such as Sito Pons and the fast Ferrari turn with slow, technical sections like Dry Sack hairpin (Turn 6), one of the main overtaking hotspots on the track. The final corner, Jorge Lorenzo, is another key challenge where late braking often sets up decisive moves onto the main straight. Known for its mix of rhythm and technical complexity, Jerez has been a regular home to top-level international racing for decades.

Heading into Jerez, Thomas Strauven leads the championship standings on 234 points, with Jan Przyrowski second on 133 and René Lammers third on 132. Ean Eyckmans follows closely with 126, while in the Teams’ standings Griffin Core By Campos Racing holds first place with 312 points, ahead of Mp Motorsport on 227, KCL by MP on 96, and Campos Racing on 92. Strauven arrives in Andalusia with his first mathematical chance of sealing the title, although it would require a highly demanding set of results across the weekend’s three races.

The racing program begins on Friday with a collective test session of one hour and twenty minutes. Saturday features a 40-minute free practice at 11:20, followed by Qualifying 1 at 13:55 and Race 1 at 17:00. On Sunday, the action starts early with Qualifying 2 at 09:00, before the weekend’s shorter Race 2 at 11:20, and the decisive Race 3 at 16:10 to close the event.
