The F4 Spanish Championship returned to action at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE for the fourth round of the 2026 season, delivering an intense weekend in which Kasper Schormans, Borys Lyzen and Elliot Kaczynski shared the victories. Schormans emerged from Madrid as the new championship leader, while MP Motorsport further strengthened its advantage at the top of the Teams’ standings.
After the summer break, Saturday began with an extremely tight opening qualifying session. Borys Lyzen continued the strong form he had shown throughout the early stages of the weekend to claim his first pole position in the championship.
The Polish rookie was the only driver to break the 1:33 barrier, setting a 1:32.929 to lead an Mp Motorsport front-row lockout ahead of Kasper Schormans. Jacob Micallef secured third place, with Rocco Coronel and Andrej Petrovic completing the top five after post-session penalties were applied.
Championship leader Noah Monteiro qualified seventh, while Nacho Tuñón started the opening race from 11th as the close title fight immediately promised another unpredictable weekend.
Schormans strikes in Race 1
Lyzen initially converted pole position into the race lead, with Schormans slotting into second behind his teammate. Several Safety Car periods interrupted the flow of the race, but the decisive moment came at a restart when Schormans attacked Lyzen into Turn 1 and emerged ahead.
Another Safety Car was deployed shortly afterwards and remained out until the chequered flag, allowing Schormans to secure his first victory of the regular season. Lyzen completed an MP Motorsport one-two, while Micallef took the final place on the podium ahead of Petrovic and Kaczynski.
Monteiro endured a difficult opening race after suffering front-wing damage and being forced into the pits, eventually finishing outside the points. His setback, combined with Schormans’ victory, resulted in a change at the top of the championship standings.
Rocco Coronel, meanwhile, was eventually classified eighth after receiving a two-position penalty following the race.
Kaczynski claims maiden pole
Sunday morning belonged to Elliot Kaczynski. The Drivex driver produced an impressive lap to secure his maiden F4 Spanish Championship pole position with a 1:32.311 in one of the closest qualifying sessions of the season.
Twenty-four drivers were separated by just one second around Jarama, with Schormans finishing only 0.081 seconds behind the polesitter. Lyzen set an identical time to his MP Motorsport teammate to take third, ahead of Vivek Kanthan, Coronel and Aleix Piñera.
Lyzen comes out on top in a chaotic Race 2
Race 2 proved to be one of the most eventful contests of the weekend. An incident on the grid involving Kaczynski and Max Mokarem contributed to an early interruption, with the race subsequently red-flagged before action could resume.
Further incidents and Safety Car periods meant green-flag running was limited, but Lyzen remained in control through the interruptions to secure his third victory of the season, adding to the two wins he had already claimed in Portimão.
Schormans finished second to add another valuable haul of championship points, while Kanthan completed the podium. Coronel crossed the line fourth ahead of Monteiro and Petrovic.
Kaczynski completes a breakthrough weekend
Starting from pole position in Race 3, Kaczynski completed a memorable weekend by converting his qualifying performance into his maiden F4 Spanish Championship victory.
The Swedish rookie led from the start but faced sustained pressure from Schormans as the race progressed. The pair remained closely matched into the closing stages, but Kaczynski held his nerve to take the chequered flag just 0.234 seconds ahead of his rival and complete a breakthrough weekend for both himself and Drivex.
Aleix Piñera was promoted to the final place on the podium after Lyzen, who had originally finished third, received a ten-second penalty following an incident with Kanthan. Kanthan therefore moved up to fourth, ahead of Coronel and Petrovic.
For Schormans, second place completed an outstanding weekend consisting of one victory and two runner-up finishes, enough to leave Jarama as the new leader of the F4 Spanish Championship.
After four rounds, Schormans now leads the Drivers’ Championship with 140 points, holding an 18-point advantage over his Mp Motorsport teammate Lyzen, who sits second on 122. Petrovic remains firmly in contention in third with 118 points, followed closely by former championship leader Monteiro on 114 and Coronel on 111. Tuñón completes the top six with 97 points, leaving several drivers still very much involved in the title battle heading into the final part of the season.
MP Motorsport also leaves Jarama having strengthened its position at the top of the Teams’ Championship. The Dutch squad now leads with 251 points, 40 clear of T-Code on 211. Griffin Core sits third with 148 points, followed by KCL Motorsport on 138 and Drivex on 135.
