Belgian driver Thomas Strauven delivered a commanding performance during the third round of the 2025 F4 Spanish Championship in Portimão, securing all three race victories of the weekend along with two pole positions and two fastest laps. His dominance at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve not only underscored his raw pace and consistency but also allowed him to strengthen his lead in the championship standings, now sitting at 170 points.
Strauven capitalized on a difficult weekend for his main rivals René Lammers and Jan Przyrowski, both of whom were forced to retire in Race 1 and failed to score points in Race 2. Their misfortune opened the door for Strauven to take full advantage and extend his lead at the top of the standings. Lammers and Przyrowski now trail with 112 and 110 points respectively.
The Portimão round also saw the emergence of several new names on the podium. Ean Eyckmans, the standout among the rookies, impressed with two second-place finishes that further consolidate his status as the leading newcomer in the series. Christopher El Feghali claimed his first-ever F4 podium, also becoming the second Lebanese driver to do so in the Spanish series, while Juan Cota delivered his maiden podium with Mp Motorsport in Race 3.
Further down the field, the weekend marked an important milestone for Alfio Spina of TC Racing and Kyuho Lee of Rodin Motorsport, both of whom scored their first championship points in what was a breakthrough performance for the two young talents.
Thanks to Strauven’s clean sweep and strong team results, Griffin Core By Campos Racing has extended its lead in the teams’ standings, now holding a 73-point advantage over Mp Motorsport at the conclusion of the third event of the season.
The F4 Spanish Championship resumes later this month, with Round 4 set to take place at Circuit Paul Ricard in France from June 20 to 22, where the battle for the title is expected to intensify once more
